How LocVox
reports.
The standards behind every LocVox Original: where our facts come from, how we check them, and the role people and software each play in producing the news you read here.
Every LocVox Original starts with the original record: council agendas and staff reports, official releases, planning applications, court and meeting documents. We read the full documents, not summaries of summaries.
When a story is built on another outlet's reporting rather than a primary source, we say so plainly and link to them, because credit matters and so does the full story. Our own primary-source reporting is published under the LocVox Originals label.
Every fact in every article must trace back to a named source before it is published. Claims that cannot be verified against a document or a named, on-the-record source do not run.
Before any article is published, it goes through an independent editorial review that checks each claim against its source. Nothing skips that step.
Software helps us gather documents, check facts against their sources, and prepare drafts. But the judgment stays human. Every article is reviewed, edited, and approved by Anthony Zruna before it publishes. Nothing is ever published automatically. Editorial responsibility and source research remain human, from first document to final byline.
We do not publish AI-generated photographs or illustrations as news imagery.
- We name our sources whenever we can. Named, on-the-record information is the default.
- Unnamed sources are used rarely, only when the information is important and cannot be obtained on the record, and only with editor approval. We do not grant anonymity to let someone attack another person without accountability.
- We seek out a range of voices. St. Thomas is a diverse community, and we try to reflect it, giving people affected by a decision the chance to speak and representing more than one perspective on contested issues.
Advertising and sponsorship never influence what we cover or what we conclude. Any sponsored or paid placement, such as a featured local business, is clearly labelled as such and kept visually distinct from our journalism. If it looks like an ad, it is one. If it reads like a LocVox Original, no one paid for it.
When we find an error, we handle it under our Corrections Policy.
