LocVox St. Thomas

We fix our mistakes,
in the open.

Accuracy is the whole point of what we do. When we get something wrong, we correct it quickly, explain what changed, and never quietly make it disappear.

Our Commitment
How We Handle Corrections

Every LocVox Original is built from primary documents and reviewed before it publishes, but no newsroom is perfect. When we learn that something we published is wrong or incomplete, we act on it promptly.

We never silently delete or quietly rewrite a published article. Removing the record of an error is exactly the behaviour a trustworthy news source avoids. Instead, we correct the article in place and add a clearly dated note explaining what changed.

What It Looks Like
Our Correction Format

Every substantive correction or update is added to the bottom of the affected article in a single, consistent format, and the article's last-modified date is updated at the same time:

Update - July 17, 2026, 2:15 p.m. ET: Corrected the unit count to 49; an earlier version said 40, per the YWCA.

Keeping one fixed format across every article means readers always recognize a correction the moment they see it.

Kinds of Change
Corrections, Updates & Retractions
  • Correction: a factual error such as a name, number, date, or quote is fixed and noted.
  • Update: the story develops and we add new, accurate information to the existing article.
  • Clarification: the facts were right but the wording could be misread, so we make it plainer.
  • Retraction: rare, and used only when a story cannot be corrected. The article is clearly marked as retracted with an explanation. It is not deleted.
