Who owns LocVox, how it is funded, and the principles that keep our reporting honest and answerable to the community it serves.
What LocVox covers, and the conclusions it reaches, are decided in the newsroom alone. No advertiser, sponsor, political party, business, or official has any say over our reporting. We cover the people and institutions who support local life, including some we may do business with, and we hold them to the same standard as everyone else.
We do not sell news coverage, favourable or otherwise. You cannot pay to have a LocVox Original written about you, and you cannot pay to make one disappear. Paid placements exist, clearly labelled and separate, but they are advertising, not journalism, and buying one earns no editorial treatment.
- Conflicts of interest. When we report on something we have a personal or business relationship with, we disclose it in the article, or we do not run it.
- Protecting sources. When we promise a source confidentiality, we keep that promise.
- Fairness to the people we cover. We give people and organizations a genuine chance to respond before we publish something critical about them.
LocVox St. Thomas is independently owned and operated by Anthony Zruna, a St. Thomas resident. It is not owned by any media chain, political organization, or outside investor.
LocVox is currently funded entirely by its owner. As it grows, it may be supported by its weekly newsletter, on-site advertising, and premium "Trusted Pros" listings in the LocVox Service Directory. No funding source influences our reporting.
