About LocVox

St. Thomas deserves its own
daily pulse.

LocVox was built by Anthony Zruna, a St. Thomas resident, for St. Thomas residents. There's always a lot happening in this city, but keeping track of it used to mean bouncing between a dozen different websites and social media pages. We wanted one place where you could check in every morning and know what's going on right here at home.

Local News Roundup

The stories that matter to St. Thomas and Elgin, curated and rewritten into a quick read, with a link to the original reporting on every story.

Live Weather

Real St. Thomas conditions, not a regional average. Temperature, wind, and active weather alerts, updated throughout the day.

Local Safety

St. Thomas Police Service press releases, so you know what's happening in your neighbourhoods.

Highway Conditions

Highway conditions for the routes in and around St. Thomas, pulled straight from Ontario 511.

Events & Community

Upcoming local events and what your neighbours are talking about online.

LocVox Originals

Our own local journalism, built from primary documents: plain-language reporting on council, development, and the decisions that shape St. Thomas.

Our Story
Why We Built This

St. Thomas is a city with real character. Historic, growing, and full of people who genuinely care about where they live. But staying on top of things as a local resident meant bouncing between multiple websites, social media pages, and email newsletters. It felt like a lot of work just to keep up with your own city.

LocVox started as a pretty simple idea: what if the most important local information just showed up in one clean place, every day, without you having to go looking for it? No endless scrolling. No algorithm pushing sponsored content at you. Just St. Thomas, laid out so you can catch up in under a minute.

A good part of what you read here is our own work, published as LocVox Originals. When city council meets or the police put out a release, we read the actual source and write a plain-language summary of what it means for you, not a reprint of a press release. For the wider news, we pull the stories that genuinely matter to St. Thomas and Elgin, write them up short enough to catch at a glance, and link you to the original outlet for the full story and the credit they've earned. The live data, weather, highways, and air quality, comes straight from official feeds like Environment Canada and Ontario 511, refreshed through the day.

Every LocVox Original is built from primary documents and reviewed by a person before it publishes. You can read exactly how we report, along with our editorial standards, corrections policy, and code of ethics.

This is a community project, run with a lot of love for St. Thomas. If you have feedback, ideas, or just want to say hello, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.

Where Our Data Comes From

We're upfront about where everything comes from. Live data like weather, highway conditions, and air quality comes straight from official public feeds such as Environment Canada and Ontario 511. For city council, police, and community matters, we read the primary records ourselves and write our own plain-language summaries, so you can understand what's actually going on. When a story is another outlet's reporting, we say so and link you straight to them, because credit matters and so does the full story.

Everything updates automatically throughout the day. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, please reach out. We take accuracy seriously.
